"Objektskatalogen, a piece of writing first published in the tenth issue of Lámour - La mort, outlines and describes 11 artworks supposedly created between 1955 and 2020 by an unnamed artist. The only thing missing was the artworks themselves. Fourteen artists were invited to resurrect, expand upon, or interrogate these forgotten original works."

KS-ROOM FELDBACH
24.06.2023 - 16.07.2023

With:
Simone Bader, Vik Bayer, Emma Hummerhielm Carlén, Nana Dahlin, Florian Hofer, Julia Karpov, Roland Kollnitz, Jusun Lee, raúl itamar lima, Taro Meissner, Fritjof Krabbe Nørretranders, Michael Reindel, Jakob Rockenschaub, Nora Schultz, Heimo Zobernig

The title “Side-Shadowing” is a term that Gary Saul Morson and Michael André Bernstein coined together in a philosophical context. It describes the sideways-cast shadow of an alternate present, in contrast to "foreshadowing" or "back-shadowing," which depict the effects of time in a linear fashion and as a direct, inevitable consequence. Time itself, as they write, is not only a sequence of current points in time, but also of fields of possibility.
In this sense, the title refers first to a possible second form of the students' final work, in which elements of their work that are not visible in the diploma exhibition but are of central importance could be shown in this exhibition, or another possible outcome of the same process that could be imagined. However, the title can also be understood as a purely sculptural reference, because where there is a shadow, there is usually also an object, a living being, or some kind of denser material in the space between the light source and the surrounding surfaces. As Louis Zukofski wrote in a poem: “see sun, and think shadow”. Nora Schultz

Small stools

All my stools look back at me.
I don’t want to place any load on them:
no burden on them when being with me.

Too small even for small humans
he stool is cuter than the chair; it is less furniture-like and more creature-like
Between 35-15cm lies my obsession,
I want to have them all.
No children’s chairs and no toys.

Most stools have four legs but in my fantasy, I prefer three-legged ones
The dog is called man´s best friend but I think it is the stool

-Scale in things and things in scale
-The size of things and things' size

Sitting height should be 45cm above ground I learned when studying architecture.
These are not miniature stools but real, small ones
because miniatures are not themselves.

Emma Carlén
wax anɗ waɳe
ɭ
The exhibition presents sculptures: piglet, wrench, pillow, wedges in a solar system, receptacle. You are both receivers and support, treated to a point where it becomes inseparable. Cut me open.
A foundation is a promise for a solid base rocking on a composite ground. The works are held by its substance in-between two states, stuck in an ambiguous sway. Once out there, they become repulsive -too close in the fantasy of flesh (wax) and too far relying on permanence (stone).
To BE SURE is an ever-to-be-expected indecision. One could praise you and go on growing and ungrowing but thriving and reverse.
Carlén describes it as an interest in ´things whose impetus are sliding between associations, contradictory in their desire or of dubious functionality´. The work Double Arc (pillow) contains both a big arc, for the support of a neck, and a small fossilized arc ready to caress it from within.
